Meeting Common Core State Standards

SpeechStory Workshops for 5th graders are designed to meet the California State Common Core Standards for Speaking and Listening. Students engage in collaborative discussions, learning to build on others’ ideas and expressing their own clearly. The Workshop speech assignments focus on topic development, effective story creation and presentation techniques. Students are engaged as an audience and participate in speech evaluations. Further, meeting roles are assigned to manage the delivery and assessment of the speeches.
